Honduras Luke 7:22 The Lame Walk
John the Baptist asked, “Is this Jesus for real? Is he the Messiah? Is He God in the flesh?” He sent someone to check it out. Jesus responded with a reference from a prophecy.
So he (Jesus) replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Luke 7:22 NIV
Fast forward to the 20th century. While in Honduras we met this man. He’d had polio since birth but could still get around on crutches. When we saw him he was unable to stand.
The Prophecy: ‘Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert. Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. ‘ Isaiah 35:5-6
We prayed and nothing happened. As we were walking out the door, we heard screaming. Look at her face as she see’s what Jesus has done. When we went back inside he was standing on his own!
This man had polio since birth but could still get around on crutches.
When we went back inside he was standing on his own!
Jesus responds to a heart that is hungry asking the same questions, with hope, that John the Baptist asked. “Is this Jesus for real?”. Yes, oh yes.
